Cease and Desist

According to the book, our purpose in life is to occupy the present moment.
Now.

Rather than continually having our mind on whatever’s next.

The next thing we’re going to do.
The next step we will take.
The next project.
The next anything besides what we're doing this moment.

Being consciously in this very instant.
This here-and-now place.

Almost seems too simplistic.

According to Eckhart Tolle in the Power of Now, the insanity in our world is due to the majority of us on the planet being anywhere but. . .
in the present moment.

Being in our “heads”.
In our way-too-chatty-minds.
Rather than actually being present in the moment. . . . .
without comment.
Totally here and now.

It's been my intention lately to accomplish this “Presence”.
This “Being-here-now-ness”.
This awakened state of being that every Teacher of Wisdom agree is the essence of "Enlightenment". And that, if we can stay present, while letting go of thought, our lives will become transformed. We won’t know what happened to us. Our happiness will be immeasurable.

It’s been happening to me every now and then throughout the day.
I remember to CEASE and DESIST.
Stop endless, compulsive thoughts.
Plunge for even the tiniest instant into
my breathing.
My body.
My Now.

Sometimes my Now feels yucky. .
uncomfortable. . .
even painful. . .

But if I remain there without the usual mental commentary. .

The stillness picks me up and carries me off.
Into a very peaceful
expanding. . .
place.
