Gray River

From inside
I watch River.. .

Her flow evens my spirit
Soothes my heart.

On the opposite shore, a figure stands on the dock.
Dressed in dark clothing and white hat,
he crouches beside a white bucket,
pauses at length
and then stands and paces,
head bowed.

I celebrate his solitariness,
the gray of fading day,
the silken flow of River.
