Day by day, I am becoming more aware of this "who" that I am.
And realizing that I am not separate from everyone and everything "outside of" this me.
The more I can embrace the good and the bad, the joyous and the dumps, the fullness and the emptiness, the light and the dark. . . .the calmer I feel. Of course not ALL the time, but increasingly so.
A quote from Rumi. . .
"This 'being human' is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all.
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture, still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond."

I remember being told as a child that Evil exists so that we can know what Goodness is. The same with Light and Dark. The Universe requires balance. The more we embrass the balance, the better we synchronize with the Universe. Pretty heavy thought for adults, not to mention a child!
