The Grin

Today’s drawing is of myself grinning from ear to ear. Totally pleased for no apparent reason. Letting my glad-to-be-alive self shine. After too many years of too much pushing, I’m now off the hook and have stopped expecting more than a bare exertion of effort when needed.

I follow my inner inclinations.

No. . .Not convictions.

Inclinations. Those barely perceptible urges to do whatever I want. When I want. Or not. I no longer bully myself around but spend hours. . .even days. . .lollygagging about reading novels, drawing, having lunch with friend or staring at the river for hours on end. Which river is right now swirling with a stormy looking undercurrent. Although along the edges it’s calm and salted with the last of the season’s dead leaves. Leaving the trees free to do their introspective thing. Like me.
