Halloween

Tomorrow’s Halloween and Jan and I will snuggle in, answer the door until our candy stash disappears and then switch off the porch light and hide in a darkened room.

Mike has lugged out his usual ghouls and goblins for his front porch and lawn. Every kid in the county will visit his place to get their quota of candy and screams for the season. It saddens me that he is alone this year. Left behind with two dogs and several cats for company now. Whatever prompted Margaret to leave him is none of my business, but it still makes me sad. As we watch the parade of trick or treaters come and go from his house tomorrow night, we’ll be thinking of years past. When the two of them enjoyed the throngs of eager kids coming to their door.

Oh well. Nothing stays the same, even here in this outpost of Moro.
Why would I expect it to?
