Throughout the demise of Jan’s health over the past years, I’ve been learning how to be grateful. Bit by bit and moment by moment, expressing thankfulness. Even when I’m feeling like pitching it all and running away as far as my legs will carry me. The cost of medications, doctors and hospitalization has slowly eaten away at our savings. Through all of this, we have complained very little and in fact, we have bolstered one another up with our belief in Abundance, in spite of what looked like quickly disappearing finances.
Then, a little over 6 weeks ago, I sat with Jan in the Social Security office, as she applied for Disability. Our friends told us to expect a wait of at least a year for benefits, and then only after a fight, whiche would require a lawyer to plead our case for us. We had no problem. Yesterday we were notified by phone that Jan’s monthly payments will begin in mid January. Bigger payments than we could ever have dreamed of! What a gift! A much needed and appreciated blessing. Something neither of us dreamed would come as a direct benefit of Jan’s health failure. It will give a new hope to our lives. A sigh of relief. We will now be able to afford what we have been putting off for so long. Angels are indeed watching over us. Abundance is a reality.
